The short answer
Housecall Pro syncs invoices, payments, and customers to Xero, similar to ServiceTitan, but with a lighter setup. It still won't hand you job-level cost tracking without a chart of accounts built to capture it.
Housecall Pro tends to show up with smaller and newer HVAC, plumbing, and electrical shops, usually simpler pricing and a faster setup than ServiceTitan. The Xero integration follows the same basic pattern: invoices and payments flow over automatically. But the same gap exists underneath it, the sync moves money, not job cost detail.
Once connected, completed jobs in Housecall Pro generate invoices in Xero, and payments collected through Housecall Pro's built-in processor reconcile against them. Customer records sync as well, so you're not manually creating a Xero contact every time a new customer books a job. For a solo operator or a two- or three-truck shop, this alone eliminates a meaningful chunk of manual data entry.
Housecall Pro tracks which tech ran a job and what was billed for materials and labor at the job level, inside its own system. That detail doesn't carry over into Xero automatically. What Xero sees is a total invoice amount, coded to whatever account the integration is mapped to by default, usually a single general revenue account.
If you want to know whether Truck 2 is actually profitable, or whether your maintenance agreements are worth the discount you're giving on them, that reporting has to be built on the Xero side using tracking categories, not assumed to exist because the sync is turned on.
For a contractor running one to four trucks who mainly needs scheduling, invoicing, and basic dispatch, Housecall Pro's simpler setup and lower cost is often the right call, you don't need ServiceTitan's full feature set if you're not using most of it. The bookkeeping setup underneath either platform looks nearly identical; what changes is how much operational detail the field software captures in the first place.
Does Housecall Pro integrate directly with Xero?
Yes, Housecall Pro has a native Xero integration that syncs invoices, payments, and customer records without manual re-entry.
Is Housecall Pro's Xero integration as robust as ServiceTitan's?
The core sync, invoices, payments, customers, is comparable. Neither platform automatically delivers job-level cost tracking in Xero; both require tracking categories built on the Xero side to get real job costing.
Can I switch from Housecall Pro to ServiceTitan later without losing my books?
Yes, as long as your chart of accounts and tracking categories were built independently of the field software rather than dictated by it, the underlying Xero setup carries over cleanly to a new sync source.
