The short answer
Both ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro sync cleanly with Xero for invoices and payments. ServiceTitan captures more granular field data worth reporting on; Housecall Pro is simpler and cheaper for smaller shops that don't need it yet.
Contractors comparing ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro usually start with price and features, dispatch, scheduling, customer communication. Bookkeeping rarely makes the shortlist of decision factors, but it should, because the field software you pick determines how much useful financial data your bookkeeper actually has to work with.
ServiceTitan is built for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical operations that have outgrown a simpler tool, more trucks, more techs, more complexity in pricing and dispatch. Its Xero integration handles invoices, payments, and customers reliably, and because ServiceTitan already tracks granular job, tech, and truck-level data internally, there's more raw material available if you build the Xero side to receive it. The tradeoff is cost and setup complexity; ServiceTitan is a bigger platform with a steeper learning curve and a higher price point than Housecall Pro.
Housecall Pro covers the same core ground, invoicing, scheduling, payments, with a gentler learning curve and a lower monthly cost. Its Xero sync does the same essential job: invoices and payments flow over without manual entry. For a one-to-four-truck operation, it's often more platform than a growing shop needs from ServiceTitan without the added cost.
For most owner-operators and small crews (one to three trucks), Housecall Pro's lower cost and simpler setup is the more sensible starting point, and the Xero bookkeeping side is nearly identical regardless of which platform feeds it. Once you're running four or more trucks with multiple technicians and enough job variety that truck-by-truck margin actually matters, ServiceTitan's deeper operational data starts to justify its higher cost, provided the Xero side is built to actually use it.
Which integrates better with Xero, ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro?
Both sync invoices, payments, and customers reliably. Neither is meaningfully "better" at the basic sync; the difference is in how much operational job data each platform captures for you to build reporting around.
Should I switch field software just to improve my bookkeeping?
Usually not on its own. If your current platform's dispatch and scheduling fit your business, the Xero setup can be built to get useful reporting out of either one. Switch when the operational features, not the accounting sync, no longer fit your size.
Does 911 Bookkeepers work with both platforms?
Yes. We set up and test the Xero integration for both ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro as part of onboarding, and build the chart of accounts and tracking categories to match whichever one you run.
